This presentation explores the experience and impact of stillbirth on midwives. The findings of the study revealed that in clinical practice, stillbirth occurs within the context of blame and this has profound impact on midwives professional competence and identity. This study concludes that in order for health professionals to provide appropriate supportive care after stillbirth, they need to be supported to deal with the personal and professional impact of stillbirth.
