Dr Linda Ernst is currently a Clinical Professor of Pathology at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the director of Perinatal Pathology at NorthShore University HealthSystem. She is also the Vice Chair for Research in her Pathology department and has an active research career with over 100 peer-reviewed publications on subjects related to fetal and placental pathology. The goals of her research are to understand how placental pathology, social disadvantage, race, and environmental exposures contribute to poor pregnancy outcomes. Dr Ernst is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as Pediatric Pathology having trained at Yale University for her residency and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for fellowship. She has devoted her career to Perinatal Pathology with clinical expertise in Placental Pathology and Perinatal Autopsy. She has performed over 1000 fetal autopsies during her career and today will help us to understand the value of fetal autopsy and placental examination in the investigation of fetal loss.
